How to install and activate Microsoft Office in 10 minutes
A clean, screenshot-free walkthrough that works for Office 2019, 2021 and 2024 on Windows and Mac.
You have a key in your inbox. Here is exactly what to do with it.
1. Remove old versions
Open Settings → Apps on Windows (or the Applications folder on Mac) and uninstall any trial or older Office. Reboot.
2. Download the installer
Use the download link from your FIVE CODELAB order email. It points to Microsoft's own servers — never download Office from third-party mirrors.
3. Install
Run the installer and wait. On Windows the Click-to-Run installer streams the apps so you can open Word before it finishes.
4. Activate
Open Word, go to File → Account → Activate Product and type in the 25-character code from your order. Online activation finishes in seconds.
Troubleshooting
- "This key has already been used" — you may be signed in with a different Microsoft account. Sign out and try again.
- Error 0x80070005 — run Office as administrator once.
